South Notts Cup Finalists!

On Tuesday 20th February, the U16 girls hosted The Minster School for the semi final of the South Notts Cup.

Having never played Minster before, we were unsure of what to expect, but the team knew they would have to battle hard if they wanted a place in the finals.

In the first half, Minster kept a lot of possession of the ball and despite HPA having a few fast breaks, Minster’s strong defence and goalkeeper ensured it stayed 0-0. Hall Park’s defence including Keira Shelbourne and Jasmine Perkins played really well and dealt with any potential threats. With a few minutes to go before half time, Emily Lardi managed to slot one past their goalkeeper and put HPA up 1-0.

In the second half, HPA came out much stronger and with a lot of confidence and began to break down Minsters team. A lot of great play from midfield players Ruby Kirkham, Amelia Morris, Millie Caress & Emily Lardi meant that a lot of great balls were getting played through to Millie Mellors who managed to put another past their keeper. With just under 10 minutes to go, Emily Lardi managed to get through the defence and score one final goal securing a comfortable win for the girls.

MOM: Amelia Morris.

A huge thank you as always to all the parents and staff who came down to support. Thank you to our sixth former Jamie Caress who was the referee for the game.

Hall Park Academy have never had a girls team get through to a cup final before, so this is a huge achievement for the girls and we are very proud of them. The finals are expected to be played around May time at a neutral ground. We will release more information nearer the time and hope you will come down and cheer the girls on.

Next up, the semis and quarter finals in the Nottinghamshire cup..
