What does or did this Governor do for a job?

Previously a Secondary School Science (Chemistry) Teacher. Currently a Stay at Home Mum to four children and have voluntary roles in Eastwood Girlguiding.

Why did they want to be a Governor at The Hall Park Academy?

I believe in our community. Eastwood is a fantastic community full of amazing and talented young people who deserve the best possible education. I have lived in Eastwood for most of my live and have volunteered with the children of Eastwood for my entire adult life through Girlguiding. I have watched our community change over the last 40 years.

Being the only secondary school in our town is a responsibility that should not be lost on the management of Hall Park Academy. How effective Hall Park is has a direct impact on the wider community. I have seen the academic achievement of the children in our community decline when this is not a true reflection of their abilities or potential. This impacts not just on the school children, but on the whole community and everyone in it. The achievement of Hall Park will effect local social dynamics over many generations and affects how Eastwood is perceived to those outside our community. Hall Park’s place in our community, to educate our children and young adults, is of profound importance.

Our children should be aiming high, working hard and succeeding at school. They should learn resilience, kindness, self-discipline and independence. I have high expectations of Hall Park Academy, its pupils, its staff and its management. Eastwood is an outstanding community to live in. I expect nothing less than outstanding from our schools.
