What will I be doing?

You will be studying the French language in more depth adding to your competency and fluency in the language, to allow you to discuss a variety of topics in detail.

You will study a range of subjects at AS and A2 including:

AS Level: Relationships, Media and new technologies, Lifestyle and Popular culture.

A2: Environment, Multi-culturalism, Contemporary social issues and Francophone cultures.

How do I pass the course?

At the end of Year 12 to pass the course, students sit a listening, reading and writing exam (70% of AS grade) as well as a speaking exam (30% of AS grade).

The exam format is the same at the end of Year 13.

Both AS and A2 count towards your final grade (50% each year).

Where will it take me?

The course will give you the chance to improve your language skills and allow you to achieve a much greater level of fluency in the language.

It is excellent for anyone looking for a career in many fields, including translation, interpreting, journalism and business but also for anyone interested in a career in teaching, politics, international relations and many more.

Universities and college widely recognise those who have studies a language, especially at A Level – so make yourself stand out from the crowd!

How do I get on the course?

You will need at least a grade B at GCSE French. For further information talk to your teacher or attend the Post-16 Open Evening.
